Heavy cargo surveys

Through Heavy Cargo Surveys we monitor and supervise loading, discharging procedures and Lashing-Securing of goods , loaded and stowage on ships (hold and on deck). We issue Cargo Lashing Certificate in order to certify Cargo loaded has been properly fastened, lashed and stowed according to standard required.

Stability Calculations

Stability Calculations both for intact stability and floating condition are carried out by our engineering consultant in order to produce vessel’s stability booklet and hydrostatic calculations which can be of assistance to substantiate claims.

Loading and out-turn surveys

Several loading and Out-turn surveys are carried out supervising loading, including stability, stress calculations and advice on draft and trim, and on arrival at the discharge port, to establish condition and any damages or shift of cargo that may have occured during the voyage.

Pre-shipment Inspections

Whereas Pre-shipment inspections ensure that bills of lading and mate’s receipts accurately note the apparent condition of cargo when it is loaded, and to comment on the water-tightness, condition and ventilation of the vessel’s holds.

Outturn loss calculations of oil cargoes

Claims arising from the carriage of oil cargoes are often substantial and may allege either shortage or contamination or both. In general, oil shortage claims are based upon a discrepancy of oil. Both these figures are frequently derived from shore tank calibration data and the Outturn Loss calculations of Oil Cargoes is the Difference in Net Standard Volume of Oil between the quantity of cargo as stated in the Bill of Lading and the quantity shown on the Outturn Certificate as the quantity of material discharged from a vessel measured and calculated by a shore terminal.

Loss Management Cargo Salvage and Disposal

There are different meanings of “salvage” in different classes of insurance. In marine insurance, “salvage” defines specifically services awarded to a third party to save maritime property from peril at sea. Here comes our marine surveyor leading Insurance company through Loss Management Cargo Salvage and Disposal. It’s indeed of utmost importance rely on competent marine consulting due to the high salvage charges incurred. There are two types of salvage – Contract Salvage and Pure Salvage. In short, Contract Salvage involves a contract stating the fixed amount of salvage charges before the commencement of the salvage service. On the contrary, Pure Salvage means that salvage is undertaken without making any contract or agreement and the salvage charges are decided at a later date by the parties.

Draught/draft survey

We carry out Draught/draft survey in order to enstablish cargo weight (loaded or unloaded) to or from a ship from measurements of changes in its displacement assessed from the draught mark. During the inspection the weight of the ship is determined both before and after loading and allowances made for differences in ballast water and other changeable items.

Stevedore damage inspection

Vessel and cargo often sustain damage during loading and unloading on board handled by stevedore companies; that’s where our Studio comes in, with its monitoring, recording and stevedore damage inspection of any damage caused by the stevedore both to the vessel and cargo.

Sampling Operations and Chemical analysis

Our technical personnel supervises Sampling Operations and Chemical analyses and on completation of these, produces by the vessel listing the unique identifier number of each sample retained on board. This report will jointly be signed by the Vessel’s Master, or his representative, and the Surveyor.
